Logline: When Lucia, a Mexican immigrant janitor with a fading passion for music, and Sonya, a timid 14-year-old Mexican-American musician battling stage fright. Their unexpected encounter sparks a transformative connection, reigniting Lucia's dream of music as she mentors Sonya to overcome her fears before the audition.
Synopsis: "Sonidito" is a coming-of-age, musically rooted short film. We follow Lucia, an immigrant who came for a better life. All she's ever known is to play music; ironically, she now works as a janitor at a music school. Over the years, her passion has dwindled to merely touching instruments with gloves and never playing what was so dear to her. That is until Sonya, a 15-year-old Mexican-American girl, arrives for her audition to enter the music school. She is timid and suffers from stage fright. The two are paired together on a weekend day, as Sonya's persistent nature to play reignites Lucia's passion that was in slumber. In return, she teaches Sonya a few tricks she picked up from playing her whole life to give her a shot at a slot in music school.
